New Delhi:
In India, it’s common for parents to avoid giving digital devices to young children to prevent addiction or damage.
However, Apple has introduced a new feature aimed at children called “Apple Watch For Your Kids.”
This feature will be available on Apple Watches and can be set up by parents, even if the child doesn’t have their own iPhone.
How It Works
Once set up, the Apple Watch will offer many of the same services available to adults. Children will be able to make calls, send messages, and interact with Siri, Apple’s voice assistant.
They will also have access to the emergency SOS service.
Parents can connect the Apple Watch to their iPhone, allowing them full control over the watch. They can manage everything from contacts to the content on the watch.
Additionally, the watch will continuously share the child’s location with the parents. The child will also receive their own Apple ID and phone number.
Schooltime Mode and Health Features
To help prevent distractions during school hours, the watch includes a “Schooltime” mode. This mode can be set automatically or by parents
and limits access to other apps while activating Do Not Disturb. A yellow circle on the watch indicates that “Schooltime” mode is active.
The feature also supports health and fitness activities for children.
It includes options for outdoor walking, running, and cycling workouts to encourage physical activity.
Compatible Devices
The “Apple Watch For Your Kids” feature is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch SE models that have watchOS 7 and iOS 14 or later.
A cellular plan, available through Jio, is also required.
