If you really like Apple Watches and were thinking of getting one, there’s some not-so-good news.
Apple won’t be selling the Watch Ultra 2 and Watch 9 series in the US anymore. You won’t find them on Amazon or other online shops soon.
The reason? Well, Apple got into a disagreement with a medical tech company called Masimo over a special technology in these watches that measures blood oxygen levels (SpO2). Masimo claims that this technology breaks their patent.
This decision was made after looking into it for 60 days. The decision was made in October, but the White House had 60 days to think about it again.
While they were thinking, Apple kept selling these watches. But in the end, the White House said no, and Apple had to stop selling them in the US.
What’s Apple going to do about it? Well, they say if the International Trade Commission (ITC) doesn’t change their minds, Apple will do whatever it takes to fix the situation.
They want to start selling these watches again as soon as possible.
But wait, there’s still some good news for Apple Watch fans in the US. The International Trade Commission (ITC) says it’s okay for Apple to keep selling other models that don’t have the blood oxygen measuring feature. So, you can still get the Apple Watch SE and similar ones.
