Indian telecom giant, Airtel, has unveiled its latest offering – Airtel XStream AirFiber, a wireless internet service that brings the internet to people’s homes without the need for wires.
The initial launch of AirFiber is limited to Delhi and Mumbai, catering exclusively to residents in these areas.
It’s worth noting that Reliance Jio introduced its AirFiber last year, but its sales are yet to commence,
with speculations suggesting a possible launch on August 28th during the company’s AGM meeting.
Airtel emphasized the growing popularity of WiFi over the past few years and highlighted that it already has 34 million home connections through Airtel Fiber in India.
However, there are still numerous locations where fiber connectivity hasn’t reached yet.
Airtel Xstream AirFiber aims to address this gap by providing internet access to these underserved areas.
The device is a plug-and-play home internet solution equipped with advanced Wi-Fi 6 technology, offering 50% faster speeds than Wi-Fi 5 routers and supporting connections for up to 64 devices simultaneously.
In terms of pricing, subscribers will need to pay a one-time refundable security deposit of Rs 2500.
The one-month plan for AirFiber costs Rs 799, while the six-month plan is priced at Rs 4,794, both providing a fast 100 Mbps speed.
Compared to Airtel Fiber, Xstream AirFiber offers superior speed, improved connectivity, and enhanced security. Setting up the device is hassle-free, as users can easily configure and manage it through the Xstream AirFiber app.
The setup process is straightforward; users simply need to plug in the device, scan the QR code using the app, and choose an optimal location for the AirFiber device.
Once set up, users can effortlessly connect all their devices to the wireless network.
The device efficiently catches the signal directly from nearby towers, eliminating the need for physical wiring and enabling seamless internet access on smartphones and other connected devices.
