Air India changes Flight Concessions for Senior Citizens and Students

Air India announced on Thursday that it has lowered the discounts for senior citizens and students. This move was made in response to current market conditions.

The Tata owned airline has stated that after the revision in flight discounts,

the actual discount on base fares for seniors and students would increase now.

The decision to rationalize fares was made in alignment with the broader industry trend, taking into account the current market situation and dynamics.

Eligibility requirements and documents for Concession

To be eligible for the Senior Citizen Concession,

the applicant must be an Indian national permanently residing in India and should have reached 60 years of age on the day of travel.

The individual must present a valid photo ID that includes their date of birth, such as a Voter’s ID card, Passport, Driving license, senior citizens ID card issued by Air India, among others.

If the relevant ID or documents are not provided during check-in or at the boarding gate, the basic fare will be forfeited, and the tickets will become non-refundable.

Boarding will be denied if identity proof is not provided during check-in and at the boarding gate.

Discounts, travel dates and more

Air India will only provide a discount of 25% on select booking classes in the Economy cabin, compared to the previous discount of 50% on Basic fare.

This change only applies to tickets issued after revision.

It is important to note that there are no changes to the concessions provided to other sections.

Additionally, these discounts are only applicable on Air India operated flights and not on Airindia Express Code share domestic flights.
