When we travel to another country, one of our biggest problems is how to pay for things. But now, there’s a solution called Unified Payment Interface or UPI.
It’s not just available in India anymore; you can use it in many other countries too.
Activating UPI Payment:
Open the UPI app and tap on your profile picture. Go to the payment settings and choose UPI International.
Tap on the Activate button next to the bank account you want to use for international payments. Enter your UPI PIN.
Activating Google Pay:
Open the Google Pay app and tap on Scan QR Code. Scan the QR code of the international merchant. Enter the amount you want to pay.
Choose the bank account for the payment. Tap on Activate UPI International when prompted.
Where UPI is Available:
You can use UPI in countries like Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bhutan, Oman, Nepal, France, and UAE.
Additionally, NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) has enabled QR-based UPI payments in 10 Southeast Asian countries and is working on expanding to more countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, European countries, and the US.
Remember, you can only use UPI for international payments if your bank supports UPI International.
