Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is set to ramp up production of its five-door Thar SUV, with plans to add 4,000 units of the Thar Roxx each month.
The new Thar Roxx will be launched on August 15, with an expected starting price of Rs 15 lakh.
This new model is anticipated to compete with the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
Increased Production and Upcoming Launch
Additional Production: M&M will increase the monthly production of the five-door Thar by 3,000-4,000 units.
Launch Details: The Thar Roxx is scheduled for launch on August 15. It will be available with the same engine options as the three-door Thar: a 2.2-liter diesel and a 2.0-liter petrol engine. Both engines will be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
Production Facility: The five-door Thar will be manufactured at M&M’s Nashik plant, which also produces the three-door Thar.
Production Capacity and Future Plans
Current Capacity: M&M plans to boost its production capacity to 64,000 units per month for the current fiscal year, including models like the XUV 3XO/400 and electric vehicles.
Future Expansion: By the next financial year, the company aims to increase its manufacturing capacity to 72,000 units per month, including 8,000 units of electric vehicles.
Open Bookings
As of July 1, Mahindra reported a total of 1.78 lakh open bookings, comprising:
XUV3XO: 55,000 units
Thar: 42,000 units
XUV700: 13,000 units
Bolero: 8,000 units
Scorpio-N: 58,000 units
