New Delhi:
In response to overcrowding issues in reservation coaches, Indian Railways has implemented stricter rules regarding waiting tickets.
Changes in Travel Eligibility
Previously, passengers with waiting tickets could sometimes occupy reservation coaches, leading to overcrowding.
Now, only passengers with confirmed reservations are allowed in these coaches.
Implications of the New Rules
If you have a waiting ticket, whether booked online or at a ticket counter, you are restricted to traveling only in general coaches.
Attempting to travel in a reserved or AC coach with a waiting ticket can result in penalties.
Consequences of Violating the Rules
Traveling in a reservation coach with a waiting ticket can result in serious consequences. Passengers may be asked to disembark at the next station and are subject to a fine.
The fine can amount to Rs 440 or more, along with the fare for the distance traveled from the starting station.
Penalties for Violating the Rules
Traveling in reserved coaches with a waiting ticket can lead to immediate removal at the next station by the TTE (Traveling Ticket Examiner) and a fine of up to Rs 440.
Additionally, you may be charged the fare from your starting station to your current destination.
These changes aim to streamline travel and ensure a better experience for all railway passengers.
