The central government has set the date for the General Budget 2024.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that the budget session will run from July 22 to August 12, with Budget 2024-25 scheduled for presentation on July 23 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Approval and Session Details
President Draupadi Murmu has approved the budget session on the government’s advice. Both houses of Parliament will convene during this period.
This session will include the presentation of the national budget.
Nirmala Sitharaman previously presented an interim budget in February ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Initial reports suggested a late July presentation for the full budget, a timeline now confirmed by Kiren Rijiju and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the country’s budget.
Record-Breaking Occasion for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman, serving her third term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
will present the budget for the seventh consecutive time.
This achievement marks her as the first Finance Minister in India to do so, surpassing Morarji Desai’s record of six consecutive budgets.
The first parliamentary session of the 18th Lok Sabha ran from 24 June to 3 July, preceding this announcement.
