The small hatchback segment is shrinking, with compact SUVs taking over the space. Recently, several new SUVs priced under Rs 10 lakh have become popular due to their SUV-like design, high ground clearance, and upright driving stance.
If you’re looking to buy a compact SUV, here are four upcoming models to consider.
Nissan Magnite Facelift
The Nissan Magnite, one of the most affordable SUVs, hasn’t generated much volume for the company. Now, Nissan plans to launch its facelift version, currently in testing.
Expected to debut at the end of 2024 or early 2025, the facelift will feature minimal cosmetic changes like a new grille, revised headlamps and LED signatures, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels. No changes are expected in the powertrain.
Kia Clavis
Kia India is testing a new sub-4 metre SUV, likely to be launched by the end of 2024. It may be named ‘Kia Clavis’ or ‘Kia Syros’.
Spy images show an upright stance with significant body cladding, roof rails, and high ground clearance.
Expected features include a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated seats.
New-Gen Hyundai Venue
The new-generation Hyundai Venue compact SUV is set to launch next year. The 2025 Venue will feature significant updates inside and out, retaining the current engine and gearbox options. It will be the first Hyundai model produced at the new Talegaon facility.
Skoda Compact SUV
Skoda has teased its upcoming compact SUV, scheduled for a March 2025 launch in India.
Built on the MQB A0 IN platform, it will have a shorter wheelbase than the Kushaq. Expected features include ADAS and a 360-degree camera.
It’s likely to be powered by a 115bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol engine, with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
