Kolkata Metro has launched a new UPI (Unified Payments Interface) based ticketing system to enhance passenger convenience.
This innovative system allows passengers to purchase metro tickets instantly and recharge their smart cards quickly using UPI payments via any smartphone.
The Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machines (ASCRM) installed at all stations along the North-South Corridor facilitate this seamless process.
Expansion of UPI Ticketing System
The UPI-based payment system was initially implemented in select parts of the East-West Metro. Due to its success, it has now been extended to all stations on the entire Blue Line.
This system was jointly developed by Kolkata Metro, the State Bank of India, and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), aimed at simplifying the ticket-buying process and providing greater convenience for passengers.
