Air India Introduces Fare Lock Service

Tata Group’s airline, Air India, has introduced a special service for passengers that allows them to control the fare of their tickets.

This new feature, called the Fare Lock service, enables passengers to lock the ticket fare for 48 hours. However, a fee will be charged for this service.

Benefits of Fare Lock Service

This service is particularly beneficial for those planning their travel. By locking the fare for 2 days, passengers can arrange other travel necessities without worrying about sudden fare increases.

Air India explained that ticket prices fluctuate based on seat availability and can rise even between checking and booking the ticket.

However, the Fare Lock service can only be used for flights that are at least 10 days away from the booking date.

Applicable Flights and Fees

The Fare Lock service is available for both domestic and international flights. For domestic flights, the fare lock fee is Rs 500.

For short-haul international flights, the fee is Rs 850 (approximately $10), and for long-haul international flights, it is Rs 1500 (approximately $18). It is important to note that this fee is non-refundable.

Aviation Ministry’s Notice to Air India

Recently, Air India faced scrutiny when a flight from Delhi to San Francisco was delayed by 20 hours.

During this time, many passengers were left inside the plane without air conditioning for hours. As a result, the Aviation Ministry issued a show cause notice to the airline regarding this incident.
