LPG Price Cut: Modi Govt Reduces LPG Prices Before Election Results

The Modi government has announced a significant reduction in the price of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders starting from June 1, 2024.

This move comes just before the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections and the announcement of election results. However, the prices of 14.2 kg domestic cylinders remain unchanged.

New Prices for Commercial Gas Cylinders

Oil marketing companies have reduced the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinders by up to Rs 72. Here are the new rates effective from June 1, 2024:

Delhi: Price reduced by Rs 69.50 to Rs 1676.

Kolkata: Price reduced by Rs 72 to Rs 1787.

Mumbai: Price reduced by Rs 69.50 to Rs 1629.

Chennai: Price now Rs 1840.50.

Domestic Cylinder Prices Unchanged

There is no change in the prices of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinders. The current rates are:

Delhi: ₹803

Kolkata: ₹829

Mumbai: ₹802.50

Chennai: ₹818.50

For Ujjwala beneficiaries, the price in Delhi remains at Rs 603.

Previous Price Adjustments for Commercial Cylinders

May 1, 2024: Prices were reduced by Rs 19. The prices were Rs 1745.50 in Delhi, Rs 1859 in Kolkata, Rs 1698.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 1911 in Chennai.

April 1, 2024: Prices were reduced by over Rs 30. The prices became Rs 1764.50 in Delhi, Rs 1879 in Kolkata, Rs 1717.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 1930 in Chennai.

The consistent adjustments in commercial cylinder prices reflect the government’s efforts to manage fuel costs effectively while keeping domestic cylinder prices stable.
