Ashirwad Scheme: THIS Govt Scheme provides Financial Aid for Daughters’ Marriage

The government has a plan called Ashirwad to help poor families with marriage expenses. It began in 1997, called Shagun Yojana at first, then changed to Ashirwad Yojana.

Back then, families got Rs 5100. Over the years, the amount increased to Rs 51,000 in 2021. This money helps with the daughter’s wedding expenses.

Beneficiary Groups

Families belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in Punjab are eligible to avail themselves of this scheme for their daughters’ marriages.

Additionally, widows, regardless of their caste, and SC widows/divorcees can receive Rs 51,000 if they choose to remarry. Furthermore, two girls from needy families can benefit from this support.
