Samsung Cuts Monthly Security Updates for Galaxy S20 Series

Samsung has made a decision that might make users worried. They won’t give monthly security updates anymore to the Galaxy S20 series phones released in 2020.

These phones include Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE.

Instead, they’ll get security updates every three months, according to a report by Android Authority. The same goes for the Galaxy Note 20 series.

Samsung promises to offer Android updates and security updates for new models for up to 7 years.

They recently rolled out the March 2024 security update, which will reach these phones in the next three months.

But despite these updates, these phones might not be as secure anymore. So, if users are worried about security, it might be better to switch to a new phone.

While Samsung is reducing security updates for older flagship devices, they assure 7 years of updates for the Galaxy 24 series and other new models launched earlier this year.

Last week, Samsung launched its new phone, the Galaxy M55 5G. It has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with Super AMOLED technology and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It comes with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage, running on a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor.

The phone has three cameras: a 50-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter.

It’s powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 45 Watt fast charging.

The phone operates on OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14. It’s currently launched in Brazil and expected to be available in India this month.
