PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Over 10 million families have registered for the PM-Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme.

He shared on social media that within just one month of the scheme’s launch, over 10 million families have registered for the PM-Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme.

PM Modi also mentioned that registrations are coming in from all across the country.
Notably, more than 500,000 registrations have been recorded in Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi mentioned that this special effort is dedicated to boosting energy production and making a significant cut in electricity costs for households.
This effort aims to support Life for Environment (LIFE) by creating a large-scale eco-friendly environment for the planet.
Scheme details
The PM-Surya Ghar initiative aims to install solar panels on the rooftops of 10 million houses through the free electricity scheme.
Under this scheme, the government provides a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 to beneficiaries in various categories.
This subsidy allows beneficiaries to receive 300 units of free electricity, which is expected to save them Rs 18,000 annually.
Specifically, the scheme offers a subsidy of Rs 30,000 for solar panels with a capacity of 1 kW, Rs 60,000 for panels with a capacity of 2 kW, and Rs 78,000 for panels with a capacity of 3 kW or more.

How to apply
- Visit https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
- Select “Apply for Rooftop Solar.”
- Choose your state, electricity provider, consumer number, mobile number, and email.
- Login with your consumer number and mobile number.
- Fill out the rooftop solar panel application form according to the guidelines.
- Wait for approval of feasibility.
- Once approved, hire a registered vendor to install the panels through your DISCOM.
- Apply for a net meter and provide necessary details.
- After DISCOM verifies and installs the net meter, obtain a commissioning certificate from the portal.
- Submit a canceled check and bank account details on the portal.
- The subsidy will be credited to your bank account within 30 days after submitting these details.
