New Delhi’s AIIMS launches UPPCHAR App for Cancer Patients

AIIMS in Delhi has launched a new smartphone app called UPPCHAR, designed to help cancer patients.

This app uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide special care for cancer patients and improve their medication compliance.

The app was created by AIIMS and has shown positive results in a study conducted with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

It compared the app with traditional methods of prescription and education for cancer patients receiving palliative care.

The results indicate that the app is effective in improving medication adherence and knowledge among advanced cancer patients.

The app will use AI to store patient data, including pathology, radiology, and clinical details, as well as genomic information.

It will help doctors in treating cancer patients by providing access to comprehensive patient histories and treatment results.

However, it’s important to note that AI will not replace doctors in cancer treatment but will assist them in providing better care.

Using AI, doctors can detect cancer at early stages, which is crucial as late detection is a major reason behind cancer-related deaths in India.

Currently, around 800,000 people die from cancer in India every year, and early detection can significantly improve survival rates.
