Amazon Prime Video Cuts High-Quality Features, Adds Ads, and Charges Extra

Bad news for people who enjoy watching movies and shows on Amazon Prime Video.

The company recently took away the Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos surround sound features from its regular service.

Now, Amazon wants users to pay extra for better audio and video quality.

They removed the high-quality audio and video option from the regular subscription and started showing ads.

To get rid of ads and enjoy better quality content again, users need to pay $2.99 extra, along with their Prime subscription.

This change will also affect Indian users. Some smart TVs like Sony, LG, and Samsung, despite having Amazon Prime subscription, don’t support high-quality audio and video.

They show content with Digital 5.1 and HDR 10 instead of Dolby.

This shift in Amazon Prime membership might affect Indian users as well, although there’s no clear information about when it will happen.

Amazon Prime offers different plans in India: a monthly plan for Rs 299, an annual plan for Rs 1499, and a three-month plan for Rs 599.

There’s also a Prime Lite plan available for an annual charge of Rs 799.

As for Netflix, its mobile plan costs Rs 149 per month. The basic plan is priced at Rs 199, the standard plan at Rs 499 per month, and the premium plan at Rs 649 per month.

The standard plan allows streaming on two devices simultaneously with Full HD 1080p quality, while the premium plan lets you watch Netflix on four devices at once.
