Big changes are happening with popular streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar. They’re making it so people can’t share passwords anymore.
This means you can’t watch shows and movies from someone else’s account.
Disney+ Hotstar’s Chief Financial Officer, Hugh Johnson, says that now everyone needs their own subscription.
If you want to share with people outside your family, you’ll have to pay extra. Right now, one account can only be used in one home.
Netflix started this change first. They noticed people were using their friends’ or family’s accounts instead of getting their own. This was causing Netflix to lose money.
Now, if you want to share with someone extra, you can pay an extra $7.99 (around Rs 660).
We’re not sure yet how much extra Disney+ Hotstar users will have to pay for sharing passwords.
They’ve changed their rules for new customers starting from January 25th. Existing subscribers will see the changes starting from March 15th.
