If you use Paytm to recharge your Fastag for tolls, there’s an important update. Paytm is not allowed for Fastag recharge anymore, as directed by RBI.
This means, if your Fastag is connected to Paytm, you won’t be able to add money to it. This might cause issues during your travels when you encounter tolls.
Fastag is a necessary document for paying toll taxes, and it must be on your car’s windshield.
It’s an electronic system in India managed by NHAI, using RFID technology. With Fastag, toll payments are made through a prepaid wallet at toll booths.
For existing Paytm Fastag users, RBI has allowed the use of their current balance until March 1. However, you won’t be able to add more money to it after that.
If you need to deactivate your Paytm Fastag, follow these steps:
- Download the Paytm app on your phone and log in.
- Type “FASTag” in the search bar and tap on “Manage FASTag” under the service section.
- Your Fastag linked to the Paytm number will appear on the screen.
- Click on the “Help and Support” page.
- Tap on the “Fastag profile” option.
- Then, tap on “I want to close my FASTag” option.
