But now, the Modi government has made a significant decision to make some medicines more affordable.
This includes medicines for sugar, pain, fever, heart issues, joint pain reliever oil, and infections.
The Central Government has decided on the prices of 39 formulations, and they have also approved 4 special feature products.

Before Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the interim budget, many people had high hopes for this decision.
To prevent the black market of medicines, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has set the prices for 39 formulations.
They have listed which medicines are included, such as those for diabetes, pain relief, fever, heart,
and joint pain, and they will be more affordable now. Additionally, four special feature products have also been given approval.
In the notification, it is mentioned that this decision is in line with the powers given by certain orders related to drug price control.
The retail prices mentioned in the Table will be replaced by new prices specified in columns (3), (4), and (5) of the same Table.
The strength mentioned in the entries is set as the maximum retail price, excluding any taxes, of each entry in column (2), along with details about the unit, manufacturer, and marketing companies.
