Vi 5G: Vodafone-Idea is getting ready to bring 5G service to India, following Airtel and Jio.
The company might introduce its 5G service in the next 6-7 months, entering into competition with Jio and Airtel.
When will Vi’s 5G be available?
Vodafone-Idea is a bit late in launching its 5G service compared to its main rivals, Jio and Airtel, who have been providing 5G services for the past few months and are expanding gradually.
Jio and Airtel offered free unlimited 5G services with special plans, but now they are stopping the free service and introducing new 5G plans.
Even though Vodafone-Idea is joining the race late, the 5G service could be crucial for them. Jio and Airtel have outperformed Vodafone Idea in 4G services, and users haven’t been too happy with Vi’s network and services.
What are Vi’s future plans?
Vi is set to launch 5G services in about 6 to 7 months, according to Vi Chief Executive Akshay Mundra. However, detailed information about the 5G launch is not available yet.
Akshay Mundra mentioned they are working with technology partners to finalize their strategy for introducing 5G services in India.
Vi has taken strategic steps to improve its services, shutting down 3G services in significant areas like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, and Kolkata in the third quarter of 2023.
The company plans to gradually discontinue 3G services in other areas as well and aims to completely stop 3G services nationwide by the financial year 2025.
