After ChatGPT arrived, many tech companies are introducing their own AI tools. Google is also set to launch its next-gen AI chatbot called Bard Advanced.
However, it won’t be available for free; a subscription model is in the works, as confirmed by the company.
This announcement was made during Google’s fourth-quarter earnings call, where Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai explained the company’s plan to meet the increasing demand for high-quality AI services.
Bard Advance Subscription on the Way
According to a report by Android Authority, Google is preparing to introduce a subscription model for its upcoming AI tool, Bard Advance.
The decision is driven by the goal to boost revenue through subscriptions.
Google aims to capitalize on the demand for premium conversational AI services by integrating a subscription model.
The advanced AI tool will feature the Gemini Ultra architecture, a component of Google’s multimodal AI system Gemini, which was introduced in December last year.
Highlighting Bard’s enhanced capabilities, Pichai mentioned, “It (Bard) is now equipped with Gemini Pro, making it more capable of tasks like understanding, summarizing, reasoning, coding, and planning.”
Potential Monthly Cost
While Google hasn’t disclosed the specific pricing for Bard Advance’s subscription, industry sources estimate that it might adopt a similar model to ChatGPT Plus.
This implies that users may need to pay a monthly subscription fee ranging between $10 and $20.
Google’s Move to Monetize Advanced AI
The decision to launch a subscription plan for Bard Advanced reveals Google’s intent to monetize its advanced AI capabilities.
By aiming to generate additional revenue through premium subscriptions, users can anticipate a more precise and feature-rich conversational AI experience.
This could bring forth new innovations in tasks such as understanding, summarizing, coding, and planning, unlocking new possibilities for users.
