The big hospital in the capital city, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), will soon have a smart card for patients. This means people won’t need to use cash for any tests at AIIMS.
The hospital wants everyone to use digital payment methods. They plan to have this ‘AIIMS Smart Card’ working for all payments by March 31, 2024, to make things easier for patients.
The goal is to make sure no one pays too much, and the hospital’s money records can be checked.
Patients will find it easier.
The boss of AIIMS, Dr. M Srinivas, signed a paper saying that AIIMS in New Delhi wants everyone to use digital payments, so no one gets cheated.
They want to make sure they can check all the money records properly. Recently, there was news that in another hospital,
a company that was hired to help with bills charged patients more money than they should. This caused problems for patients, both with money and stress.
The hospital says they won’t take cash at any counter, except the ones where you can put money on your ‘AIIMS Smart Card.
‘ The order also says that, apart from using UPI, debit cards, and credit cards, the ‘AIIMS Smart Card’ will be the only way to pay for tests and treatments.
The card is already being used in some parts of the hospital and will work everywhere in the hospital by the end of March.
There will be places where you can put more money on your ‘AIIMS Smart Card’ in the outpatient areas, hospitals, and centers.
These places will be open all the time. You can pay for everything at the nearest place that accepts payments, and you won’t need to go to a central counter to pay.
