The Zomato app, a popular food delivery service, has temporarily stopped delivering non-vegetarian food in many North Indian states.
People using the app in various cities shared their concerns on a platform called X (formerly Twitter).
In response, Zomato explained that they made this change based on government instructions.
Some think the government gave these instructions due to a special event.
Zomato clarified, saying, “We stopped delivering non-veg items in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan as per government instructions.”
When a user asked why they couldn’t order non-veg, the app mentioned this government guidance.
These instructions were received on January 22. The head of the National Restaurant Association of India mentioned that on that day, all restaurants in Uttar Pradesh would only serve vegetarian food.
Zomato didn’t provide a clear reason or date for this change, but if it’s about respecting life, users may soon have the option to order non-veg food again.
