Indian Travelers can Now use Google Pay Internationally

Google India Digital Services and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) recently made an agreement to make it easier for people in different countries to use UPI payments.

This includes a popular service called Google Pay, also known as GPay in some places.

So, if you’re from India and you’re traveling abroad, you can now use Google Pay to make payments without needing to carry cash or use complicated international payment systems.

According to the agreement, there are three main goals. Firstly, it aims to make it simple for travelers outside India to use UPI payments in other countries.

Secondly, it wants to help other countries set up digital payment systems like UPI for smooth financial transactions.

Lastly, it focuses on making cross-border transactions, like sending money between countries, easier using the UPI system.

The CEO of NIPL, Ritesh Shukla, mentioned that this partnership will not only make overseas transactions easier for Indian travelers but will also help share knowledge and expertise in running successful digital payment systems with other countries.

This agreement will make UPI more known globally, allowing businesses in other countries to accept payments from Indian customers without them having to rely only on foreign currency, credit cards, or foreign currency cards.

People can also use UPI-powered apps like Google Pay from India for these transactions.
