IndiGo hikes Airfare on Selected Seats by up to 2000 Rupees: Know Details

IndiGo, the biggest airline in our country, surprised its customers by making ticket prices higher for certain seats.

Before this, they had said the prices would go down on January 4. This choice was made after the cost of airplane fuel went down (ATF), but now the company says prices for some seats are going up again.

People will now need to pay more money than before to sit in specific seats. Find out which seats have an extra charge.

Additional fare up to Rs 2000 will have to be paid for these seats

IndiGo shared on Monday that passengers will need to pay more for certain seats, especially the XL seats in the front with extra legroom.

In their A320 or A320neo planes, which have around 180 or 186 seats, there are 18 XL seats at the front.

Now, for these special seats (the ones by the window), passengers might have to pay an extra fare of up to Rs 2000.

If you choose the front middle seat, there’s an additional fare of up to Rs 1500.

Before, the airline used to charge extra fees ranging from Rs 150 to Rs 1500 for these seats.

Fuel charge was taken back

The biggest private airline in the country, IndiGo, had decided to charge extra for fuel on January 4.

However, they changed their decision after the cost of airplane fuel went down.

Because the government reduced the prices of airplane fuel due to lower crude oil prices, IndiGo is now making flights cheaper for passengers.

After this announcement, IndiGo lowered fares by Rs 300 to Rs 1000 for both flights within the country and internationally.

The cost of airplane fuel can make up to 40 percent of airlines’ operating expenses.
