Govt Set to Halt Electric Bike Subsidies in Weeks (Check Reason)

The government plans to stop helping with the cost of electric bikes in a few weeks.

They don’t want to continue a program called FAME III, which is meant to encourage people to buy electric bikes.

Even though some parts of the government disagree, they think it’s time to end this support.

Earlier this year, the government reduced the help they give for electric bikes, and fewer people wanted to buy them.

Now, things are starting to get better. The government says that people will naturally start using electric bikes more.

The current program, FAME II, which gives money off for electric bikes used for public transport, will end soon.

The government wants to help about 10 lakh electric bikes before it stops. They set aside Rs 10,000 crore for this plan, as requested by Indian manufacturers.

The government started this plan with big goals, but it didn’t work as well as they hoped. Now, they’re thinking about stopping it when they’re also considering a new plan.

This new plan might encourage companies like Tesla to make electric cars in India for both Indian and other markets.

The new plan is still being discussed, but it might involve giving companies incentives to produce more or having a plan for manufacturing in stages.

Also, there might be consequences for some companies that didn’t follow the rules under FAME.

People in the South and West parts of the country are buying more electric bikes, but not so much in the North and East.

Manufacturers hope that with new models and more awareness, more people all over the country will start using electric bikes.

This could happen because there’s more investment in places where people can charge their bikes.
