WhatsApp, owned by Meta, introduced a new feature that lets you pin messages, including text, polls, images, and emojis, in the chat.
You can only pin one chat at a time. This feature is now available for users, allowing you to highlight important messages in a group or personal chat using pinned messages.
Which messages can be pinned?
This makes it easier for users to save time and quickly locate messages.
According to WhatsApp, in a message, you can pin all types of content such as text, polls, images, emojis, and more, and they are kept private with end-to-end encryption.
To pin a message, follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp.
2. Go to the chat where you want to pin a message.
3. Press and hold the message you want to pin.
4. Select the ‘Pin’ option from the menu.
5. A banner will appear, allowing you to choose the duration of the pinned message (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). You can choose according to your preference.
WhatsApp mentions that seven days is the default duration. In group chats, administrators can decide whether all members or only admins can pin messages.
This feature is similar to what Telegram and iMessage already offer.
