India’s First Solar Expressway to Light Up 100,000 Homes Daily in UP

Lots of new roads are being built in the country. Each road has its own special things.

In Uttar Pradesh, they are making the Bundelkhand Expressway special by adding solar panels to it.

These solar panels will be put on both sides of the 296-kilometer-long road.

This will be the first road in the country that uses the sun to make electricity. When it’s finished, around one hundred thousand homes will have power every day.

They’ve found a space of 1700 hectares on the road for this. Eight big companies that make solar power have talked about their plans.

The solar plants will be set up using something called the Public Private Partnership model.

On the Bundelkhand Expressway, there’s a wide strip between the main road and the side road.

They’re getting ready to put solar panels there. This will create 550 MW of solar power.

Here are some important things about the Bundelkhand Expressway: Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened it on July 16, 2022.

It’s the fastest road in the state because they finished building it in only 28 months.

The road goes through 7 districts in UP: Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, and Chitrakoot.
