Rapido, the ride-hailing service, has officially started providing taxi services. Today marks the beginning of Rapido’s taxi service, aiming to compete with OLA-Uber’s cab services.
The company, previously known for bikes and autos, has now ventured into the four-wheeler segment with an initial fleet of 100,000 vehicles, planning to expand further.
Recently, Rapido entered the auto segment, and now it has added taxi services to its offerings.
Service Initiated in These Cities
Rapido has commenced its taxi service in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore initially.
Co-founder Pawan Guntupalli mentioned that the company intends to extend this service to Tier-1 cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, and others in the future.
Zero Commission for Drivers
The company has introduced a SaaS-based platform, ensuring zero commission for drivers.
Under this initiative, drivers will only need to pay a nominal usage fee, allowing them to retain a significant portion of their earnings.
The zero-commission model facilitates direct payments between customers and drivers, with drivers only required to pay a straightforward subscription fee.
Company Launches with a Fleet of 100,000
Rapido has pledged to expand its services to Tier-2 cities like Patna and Bhubaneswar after the initial launch in Tier-1 cities.
Notably, the company holds a 60 percent market share in bike taxis and aims to extend its cab services nationwide. The initial fleet consists of 100,000 vehicles.
Affordable Prices for Users
Pawan Guntupalli, the company’s co-founder, claims that as the fleet size increases
and services expand across the country, Rapido’s taxi services will become more affordable.
Currently, Rapido’s bike and auto taxis offer lower prices compared to other aggregators.
