BMW Motorrad recently introduced two new motorcycles, the R 12 nineT and R 12, on a global scale.
The R 12 nineT is a traditional roadster bike, while the R 12 is designed as a classic cruiser.
These bikes have not only undergone visual changes but also feature improvements in their internal components.
However, BMW Motorrad has not specified when these models will be available in India.
The new motorcycles now utilize a modern one-piece tubular bridge steel frame with a detachable rear frame.
This updated frame has reduced the overall weight of the bikes and provides a sleek appearance. Additionally, the new frame contributes to enlarging the airbox.
Engine and Power
Both the R12 nineT and R12 are equipped with a 1,170cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine.
The R12 produces 107bhp of power at 7,000rpm, and the R12 nineT delivers a peak torque of 115Nm at 6,500rpm.
Meanwhile, the R12 nineT generates 93bhp at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 110nm at 6,000rpm. The twin exhaust system is now positioned on the left side.
Suspension and Braking System
The frame of both motorcycles features upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear, connected to a single-sided swingarm.
The R12 nineT offers full adjustment for its front forks. Both bikes employ twin 320-disc brakes at the front with 4-piston monobloc brake calipers and a single disc at the rear. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is also included.
Three Riding Modes
Both motorcycles come with three riding modes: Rain, Road, and Dynamic. In addition, the R12 nineT offers an extra Roll and Rock mode.
BMW provides Motorrad Dynamic Traction Control, Keyless Ride, Engine Drag Torque Control, new classic round instruments, and a USB-C and 12 V socket as standard features.
An optional upgrade includes a new digital display and headlight pro.
