Apple is working hard to make many iPhones in India. They want to make iPhones worth about Rs 1 lakh crore by March 2024.
People who know about this say that Apple has made more than ₹60,000 crore worth of iPhones in the first seven months.
They also say that if Apple doesn’t reach the Rs 1 lakh crore goal this year, they will try to do it by the first three months of 2025.
To get ready for the holidays in America and the West, Apple is getting ready to make more iPhones.
Because of some problems around the world, fewer people are buying electronic things in the West.
This might make the demand for iPhones go down. About 70% of the iPhones made in India are sent to other countries.
So far, between April and October this year, Apple sent iPhones worth Rs 40,000 crore ($5 billion) to other countries.
This year, Apple became the first single brand to send more than $5 billion worth of stuff from India in one year.
This is 185% more than last year. Apple’s iPhones are made in India by companies like Foxconn and Pegatron in Tamil Nadu.
Also, Wistron, which is now owned by the Tata Group, makes iPhones as well, from models iPhone 12 to 15.
Recently, the Tata Group made a deal with Wistron Hong Kong to buy all of Wistron Infocom Manufacturing (India) Pvt Ltd.
They paid $750 million for this deal, and it also included a loan of $550 million from the parent company to Wistron India.
Apple is really focusing on India, especially for making iPhones. Since 2018-19, they have been testing the market and making a few models like iPhone SE, 7, and 8.
In the last two and a half years, Apple has started making a lot more iPhones in India.
