UP Govt to Provide 2 Free LPG Cylinders Under Ujjwala Scheme

In a significant development in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has approved a plan to provide two free LPG cylinders to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries.

This decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Yogi Adityanath. The scheme will roll out free cylinder refills during October-December 2023

and January-March 2024. The state government will allocate Rs 2312 crore annually for this initiative.

1.75 crore families in the state will benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, starting with Aadhaar-verified beneficiaries receiving free cylinders in the initial phase.

Subsidies will be credited to their Aadhaar-authenticated accounts within five days of purchasing a 14.2 kg cylinder.

This scheme is applicable to one connection issued under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Additionally, the Central Government has also provided relief under the Ujjwala scheme.

They recently reduced the price of gas cylinders by Rs 400 and increased the Ujjwala scheme subsidy by Rs 100.

Consequently, beneficiaries now enjoy a total subsidy of Rs 300, making the gas cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme more affordable by Rs 500.
