Dave Treadwell, Amazon’s e-commerce SVP, is excited about their new security approach. While passwords won’t vanish soon, the future looks promising.
“We’re thrilled to see early adoption of this new authentication method,” said Treadwell, “moving us closer to a secure, password-free internet.”
Amazon’s recent statement announced the availability of Passkey support for all browser users. The iOS and Android Amazon Shopping apps will soon follow suit.
Passkey, unlike passwords, can’t be easily shared or guessed, a powerful tool against hackers.
When customers use Passkey, it proves they have their device and can unlock it. No more need to memorize complex passwords or risk using easily guessed info like names or birthdays.
Customers can now access apps and sites using Passkey, similar to unlocking their device with a fingerprint, face scan, or PIN.
Amazon highlights that Passkeys are less susceptible to phishing attacks compared to traditional passwords and one-time text codes, offering a more secure alternative.
