Getting tickets for the Delhi Metro is now simpler than ever. Any passenger can use WhatsApp on their mobile phone to get a ticket.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently announced that this WhatsApp-based ticketing system is now available on all lines in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
This service is offered in partnership with Meta, the company behind WhatsApp, and their authorized partner, Paylocal Fintech Private Limited.
How to get the ticket?
Now, people who travel on the metro can use WhatsApp to buy tickets.
Just send a message with the word ‘Hi’ to 9650855800 or scan the QR code on your phone to purchase tickets easily.
There’s a small extra fee when you use a credit or debit card, but there’s no extra fee for UPI transactions.
A person can make up to six QR tickets at once. You can book tickets from 6 am to 9 pm for all lines and from 4 am to 11 pm for the Airport Line (Orange Line).
Please note that you cannot cancel tickets using WhatsApp Ticketing.
This service was first introduced on the Airport Express Line in June.
Vikas Kumar, the head of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, mentioned, “WhatsApp is the favorite app for messaging among many Indians.
Purchasing a metro ticket will be as simple as sending a message to a friend or family member.”
We believe this connection will make more people want to pick the Delhi Metro as their favorite way to travel.
Ravi Garg, who works at Meta India as the Business Messaging Director, mentioned, “Our aim is to make traveling easier for WhatsApp users, and this is a part of that effort.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of passengers depend on Delhi Metro to get where they want to go.
We are excited to offer them this WhatsApp Chat Ticketing experience.”
