PM Swamitva Yojana: Empowering Rural India with Land Ownership Right

The Indian Government is dedicated to enhancing both urban and rural development across the nation through a range of initiatives.

One of the most significant among them is the PM Swamitva Yojana. This scheme is primarily designed to bolster the economic strength of rural India.

Under this special initiative, individuals in rural areas are granted legal ownership rights to their land and homes, even if there are no official government records.

The program issues government property cards to beneficiaries.

Many people in rural villages lack formal ownership rights and government documentation for their properties.

PM Swamitva Yojana aims to be a lifeline for these individuals. The pilot phase of the program was rolled out in selected villages in Maharashtra,

Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan during the 2020-21 period.

On April 24, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM Swamitva Yojana.

The government’s objective in launching this scheme is to empower rural areas economically and foster self-reliance.

By obtaining ownership rights through this program, people will find it easier to secure bank loans, resolve property-related disputes, and sell their properties.

Additionally, PM Swamitva Yojana involves the use of drones to map villages and farmlands, streamlining the process of property identification and documentation.
