BYD launches 2023 Tang EV Model with 700KM Range

Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled its latest offerings, the Tang DM-I and Tang DM-P Electric SUVs. These electric SUVs are priced approximately 10% lower than their predecessors.

The goal is to make electric vehicles more accessible to customers by reducing the cost. Despite the price cut, the company retains the familiar design theme.

Enhancements and Features

The 2023 BYD Tang EV now features new 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and boasts improved passenger safety with the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system.

With a price of 250,000 Yuan (about Rs 28 lakh), it provides a substantial range of 730 km on a single charge.

Spacious and Versatile

The BYD Tang EV offers generous interior space, measuring 4,900 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

Its boot space is ample, and it’s available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The vehicle comes in three variants, weighing 2.36 tonnes, 2.44 tonnes, and 2.56 tonnes.

Diverse Range Options

The BYD Tang EV lineup offers a range of options. The base model is equipped with a front single motor, producing 225 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque, delivering a 600 km range.

The long-range variant extends that to 730 km on a full charge, with the front single motor generating 241 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

The top-spec variant comes with a four-wheel drive setup, with front and rear motors producing 510 hp and 700 Nm, providing a 635 km range.

The 4WD variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

Efficient Blade LFP Batteries

All BYD Tang EV variants utilize Blade LFP batteries, renowned for their performance and reliability.

They support fast charging, allowing a 30% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes and covering a distance of 173 km with only 10 minutes of charging.

Affordable Pricing

In terms of pricing, the 600 km range version starts at 249,800 Yuan (about Rs 28.41 lakh), representing an 11.7% reduction compared to the 2022 model.

The 730 km variant is priced at 269,800 Yuan (about Rs 30.68 lakh), a 13.7% decrease, while the 4-wheel drive variant is available for 299,800 Yuan (about Rs 34.09 lakh), a 12.5% discount compared to the 2022 model.
