LPG Cylinder Prices Slashed Ahead of Rakshabandhan: In a significant move, the Narendra Modi government has brought relief to consumers by reducing LPG gas cylinder prices.
The government’s decision, greenlit during a recent cabinet meeting, entails a substantial Rs 200 price cut per cylinder.
This relief will directly benefit over 33 crore customers. Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister, announced the price reduction, stating that all consumers would now pay Rs 200 less for their gas cylinders.
Anurag Thakur further explained that this cabinet decision amplifies the subsidy for Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries to a total of Rs 400.
This scheme, aimed at providing clean cooking fuel to underprivileged families, previously offered a Rs 200 subsidy.
The Ujjwala initiative has already empowered 9 crore 60 lakh families with gas connections, making it a pivotal factor in the BJP’s 2019 election success, and once again, the Modi government is poised to capitalize on its popularity.
New Price Points
With this revision, the 14.2 kg LPG cylinder’s cost in Delhi will drop to Rs 903 from the current Rs 1,103, starting from Wednesday. Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries will now secure LPG cylinders for just Rs 703.
Furthermore, the government has pledged to provide 75 lakh new LPG connections for free under the Ujjwala scheme.
This expansion will increase the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to 10.35 crore.
