The government is launching the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ incentive scheme in six states and union territories starting September 1.
Through a mobile app, individuals can have a chance to win cash prizes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 crore by simply uploading their bills.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) is behind this initiative, aiming to motivate people to ask for bills whenever they make a purchase.
The scheme will roll out in Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Puducherry, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Easy Steps to Win
Using the ‘My Bill My Right’ app, available on iOS and Android, individuals can upload their invoices.
The uploaded invoice should include details like the seller’s GSTIN, invoice number, payment amount, and tax. Each person can upload up to 25 bills per month, with a minimum value of Rs 200.
Lucky Draws Every Month
Under the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ scheme, more than 500 computerized lucky draws will occur monthly.
Two lucky draws will be held each quarter, with prizes potentially reaching up to one crore rupees.
The final details are being ironed out, and the scheme is expected to launch in early September.
This initiative aims to reduce the chances of GST evasion, as electronic invoicing has already been made mandatory for B2B transactions.
Fair Play for All Buyers
The ‘My Bill Mera Adhikar’ scheme also ensures electronic invoice generation for B2C customers, allowing buyers to participate in the lucky draw.
The scheme has been structured to empower customers to request bills from sellers when purchasing goods or services under the GST framework.
