Jeep India has recently raised the prices of its popular Compass and Meridian SUV models.
The Compass now costs Rs 43,000 more, while the Meridian has gone up by Rs 57,000.
The starting prices for the Jeep Compass and Meridian are now Rs 21.73 lakh and Rs 33.40 lakh respectively.
This increase is linked to the recent government decision to impose a higher cess on SUVs.
Variants and Price Hikes
The base variant, Sport MT, of the Compass has seen the smallest increase of Rs 29,000.
On the other hand, the Limited MT 4X2 and Limited MT 4X4 variants have become more expensive by Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively.
The higher-end Model S variants, MT 4X2 and AT 4X4, have witnessed price hikes of Rs 38,000 and Rs 43,000 respectively.
The Compass lineup now exclusively offers the 2.0-litre diesel engine with options for a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
There are talks of a potential 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine option in the future.
This SUV faces competition from models like Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Tucson, Citroën C5 Aircross, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Changes in Jeep Meridian Prices
Jeep has also increased the prices of its Meridian models.
The Meridian Limited (O) MT variant has seen the lowest increase of Rs 45,000, while the Limited (O) AT variant has the highest increase at Rs 57,000.
Both 4×4 variants, Limited (O) AT 4×4 and Limited Plus AT 4×4, have seen their prices go up by Rs 51,000.

Similar to the Compass, the Meridian lineup now exclusively offers the 2.0-litre diesel engine with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Jeep has removed the base Limited MT and Limited AT variants from its lineup, making Limited (O) the new base trim for this SUV.
The Meridian competes with other models like Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Gloster.
