Banks to impose New Charges for ATM Transactions in India

Most banks in the country provide a set number of free ATM transactions to their customers each month.

If this limit is surpassed, additional charges apply to every ATM transaction, whether financial or non-financial.

Majority of banks offer 5 free transactions every month. Unused transactions do not carry forward to the next month.

Here’s an overview of key banks’ rules:

1) Punjab National Bank (PNB) ATM

5 free transactions monthly in both metro and non-metro areas. Afterward, Rs 10 per transaction.

3 free transactions in metro cities, 5 in non-metro cities at other banks’ ATMs. For financial transactions: Rs 21 + taxes; for non-financial: Rs 9 + taxes.

2) State Bank of India (SBI) ATM

5 free transactions (financial and non-financial) for average monthly balance above Rs 25,000. Unlimited transactions above this balance.

SBI ATMs financial transaction fee: Rs 10 + GST; other bank ATMs: Rs 20 + GST per transaction.

3) ICICI Bank ATM

3 free transactions per month, 5 in non-metro, and 6 in metro areas.

Non-financial transaction fee: Rs 8.5; financial transaction fee: Rs 21 at ICICI ATMs.

4) HDFC Bank ATM

5 free transactions monthly at HDFC Bank ATMs. Non-bank ATMs: 3 transactions in metro, 5 in non-metro areas.

Exceeding limit: Rs 21 for financial, Rs 8.5 for non-financial transactions.

These guidelines align with the latest RBI regulations on ATM transactions, ensuring customers are informed about free transaction limits and applicable charges.
