Maruti Grand Vitara Introduces AVAS for Enhanced Pedestrian Safety, Slight Price Increase

Maruti Suzuki has recently introduced a crucial safety feature, the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), in the Strong Hybrid variants of the popular Maruti Grand Vitara SUV.

This advanced system serves as a pedestrian safety alarm, emitting a low-level alert sound within a 5-foot radius to notify pedestrians and nearby drivers.

The inclusion of AVAS ensures compliance with the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 173, which applies to electric, hybrid electric, and fuel cell hybrid vehicles featuring electric motors or generators.

Enhanced Safety Comes at a Slight Price Adjustment for Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid

With the addition of the AVAS pedestrian protection technology, the price of Maruti Grand Vitara’s Strong Hybrid variants has been revised.

Customers opting for the Strong Hybrid Zeta+ variant can now purchase it at Rs. 18.29 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Alpha+ variant is priced at Rs. 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

This nominal price increase of Rs. 4,000 accounts for the incorporation of the AVAS system. The non-hybrid variants of the SUV remain unaffected in terms of pricing.

Diverse Trims and Engine Options Available for Maruti Grand Vitara

The Maruti Grand Vitara lineup offers customers a choice of six trims, namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+, and Alpha+.

The first four trims feature a 1.5L petrol mild hybrid engine, delivering a power output of 103bhp.

On the other hand, the Zeta+ and Alpha+ trims come equipped with a 1.5L strong hybrid petrol powertrain, generating 114bhp.

Buyers can further customize their driving experience by selecting from three gearbox options: 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or e-CVT (available exclusively in the Strong Hybrid variant).
