The Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, aimed at improving the economic conditions of farmers in the country, has faced reports of forgery.
In response, the Union Ministry of Agriculture has taken a step forward by launching a dedicated mobile application called PM-Kisan Mobile App.
This app comes equipped with an advanced face authentication feature, which will serve as the primary verification method for farmers.
By scanning their faces using the app, farmers can easily complete the e-KYC process, eliminating the need for one-time passwords or fingerprints.
During the launch event, notable attendees included Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary,
Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda, and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
This feature is particularly beneficial for elderly farmers who haven’t linked their mobile numbers with Aadhaar.
PM Kisan Scheme: Over 300,000 Farmers Complete e-KYC Using the App
Pramod further revealed that the pilot test for the face authentication feature in the PM-Kisan mobile app commenced on May 21 this year.
As of now, approximately 300,000 farmers have successfully completed their e-KYC through this feature.
This app represents a prime example of modern technology, allowing farmers to independently complete their e-KYC.
Furthermore, it also enables assistance to other farmers in completing the process.
Previously, farmers had to rely on biometrics for e-KYC, along with linking their mobile numbers to Aadhaar through one-time passwords.
The government assures that all farmer data will be securely stored and readily accessible through this app, ensuring a hassle-free experience for them.
App Features and Availability
The new app can be easily downloaded from the Google Play Store, offering farmers a wide range of valuable information.
Officials emphasize that its primary objective is to simplify the e-KYC process, particularly for elderly farmers who have yet to link their mobile numbers with Aadhaar.
This app empowers them to complete the e-KYC process from the comfort of their homes.
