Hyundai, the renowned South Korean automobile company, is gearing up to release a significant update for its popular premium hatchback, the i20, in the Indian market.
Recently, the facelifted version of the Hyundai i20 was unveiled, and now the car has been spotted undergoing tests on Indian roads.
Considering India’s status as a massive market for Hyundai and the car’s existing popularity in the country, it is expected that the facelifted Hyundai i20 will soon hit the market.
The upcoming model is anticipated to incorporate special features and advanced technology, elevating it above the current version.
What to Expect from the Hyundai i20 Facelift:
The Hyundai i20 has always enjoyed a positive reception as a premium hatchback, and the expectations are even higher for its facelifted model.
The refreshed i20 boasts new pentagram-styled wheel designs, available in 16- and 17-inch variants.
However, examining spy shots of the model spotted on Indian roads reveals a different wheel design compared to the international version.
Although the car was heavily camouflaged, discernible cut lines and creases could be observed.
Notable updates include redesigned headlamps and taillamps.
While the global version of the model did not receive any significant interior additions apart from ambient lighting,
it is anticipated that similar features will be present in the Indian version.
Power and Performance:
The Hyundai i20 offers a choice between a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-liter direct injection turbo-petrol engine.
The engine options are paired with either a five-speed manual, CVT automatic, iMT, or DCT automatic transmission, depending on the variant.
The 1.2-liter NA engine delivers 83hp with the manual transmission and 88hp with the CVT, while the turbocharged 1.0-liter engine generates an impressive power output of 120hp.
The facelifted model is expected to retain both engine options.
Introducing Advanced Safety Features:
The Hyundai i20 facelift will incorporate the Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), bolstering the car’s safety features.
The ADAS package encompasses forward collision-avoidance assist, lane following assist, blind spot collision-avoidance assist, and more.
ADAS technology has gained popularity and is increasingly being integrated into various models in the market.
However, it is yet to be confirmed whether this feature will be available in the Indian-spec model.
Launch Date:
Prior to the release of the i20 facelift, Hyundai is set to launch the Exter, an affordable micro-SUV positioned below the existing Venue model.
Consequently, the premium hatchback car might be launched after the Exter.
With the introduction of new features and updates, there could be a potential price increase.
The car primarily competes with the Maruti Baleno in the market.
