Government announces to ban THESE 3 Types Online Games

In a significant development concerning mobile and online gaming, the government has made a major announcement.

The authorities will be prohibiting three categories of games that pose or have the potential to pose harm to users.

The government has emphasized the need to take action against such games.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that a comprehensive framework for online gaming has been drafted, marking the first of its kind in the country.

The framework will disallow the presence of three specific game types within India.

Types of Games to be Banned

As per reports, the Union Minister highlighted that games involving gambling, potential harm to users, and addictive elements will be banned in the country.

However, a specific list of these prohibited games has not been released by Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar yet.

Numerous cases have surfaced both domestically and internationally where game addiction has inflicted significant harm upon children and individuals.

Past Bans on PUBG Mobile and TikTok

Previously, the Indian government banned the popular PUBG Mobile app due to security concerns, while TikTok faced a similar fate owing to data security issues.

Looking at the online gaming market’s size in India, a report indicates that it reached Rs 135 billion in 2022.

Forecasts predict that this market size will exceed Rs 231 billion by 2025. In 2012, the Indian online gaming market’s worth stood at Rs 15.3 billion.
