The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to commence its highly anticipated Housing Scheme for the year 2023 in June, according to officials.
The scheme aims to provide approximately 23,000 recently constructed flats to individuals from low-income and economically weaker sections.
The majority of these flats are located in Narela.
To ensure a fair and transparent allotment process, the flats will be distributed through a computerized draw of lots.
Vijender Gupta, a member of the DDA, informed Moneycontrol that the scheme will only be launched after receiving approval in the authority meeting.
Therefore, the expected start date for the housing scheme featuring 23,000 flats is now June.
Upon receiving approval, the DDA will invite applications from interested individuals.
The pricing details of the flats will be finalized shortly before the formal launch.
In the previous scheme conducted in 2022, economically weaker section flats were available within the price range of Rs 7.91 lakh to Rs 12.42 lakh,
while low-income group category flats were priced between Rs 18.10 lakh and Rs 22.8 lakh.
The DDA currently possesses a list of approximately 40,000 unsold flats located in Narela, Dwarka, and Jasola.
The majority of these units cater to the economically weaker sections and are situated in Narela in North Delhi.
DDA is responsible for managing the land in the national capital and constructing houses on it.
Out of these, roughly 16,000 flats have remained unsold primarily due to inadequate connectivity and infrastructure, as per officials.
In order to attract potential buyers, the DDA has taken measures to improve infrastructure and construct roads.
Moreover, they have facilitated the development of the Metro corridor on the Rithala-Bawana-Narela section, which will enhance connectivity and boost the sale of these flats.
Additionally, the DDA is considering allowing individuals who already own a flat or plot in Delhi or their family members to apply for these flats.
