Ahead of its upcoming launch next month, Maruti Suzuki has revealed the mileage details of the highly anticipated Jimny SUV.
positioning it as a more budget-friendly option for off-road enthusiasts compared to the 5-door Mahindra Thar.
Impressive Mileage of up to 16.39 kmpl
According to official figures certified by ARAI, the Maruti Jimny SUV achieves an impressive mileage of up to 16.39 kilometers per liter in its automatic variant
The manual variant, on the other hand, offers a mileage of 16.94 kmpl. With a fuel tank capacity of 40 liters, the Jimny SUV can comfortably travel between 650 to 700 kilometers on a full tank.
Powered by a 1.5-liter Petrol Engine
Maruti Suzuki will equip the Jimny with a single 1.5-liter naturally aspirated K15B series petrol engine.
Customers will have the choice between a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The SUV’s engine has been optimized to deliver a maximum power of 103BHP and peak torque of 134NM.
Comparing Mileage with Mahindra Thar Petrol Variant
When compared to the Mahindra Thar petrol variant, the Jimny proves to be more fuel-efficient.
The Thar SUV achieves a mileage of 15.2 kmpl with its 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine. Additionally.
the Mahindra Thar boasts superior power, generating up to 150hp and a peak torque of 300Nm with its 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Expected Pricing
In terms of pricing, the Maruti Jimny SUV is poised to surpass its rival, the Thar. Upon its launch in early June, the Jimny Lifestyle SUV is expected to be a more cost-effective choice in this segment.
Currently, the Mahindra Thar petrol variant starts at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level RWD variant, while the top-end variant reaches up to ₹16.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
