Ration card holders have received a welcome announcement regarding additional benefits from the government.
In addition to receiving free ration, eligible ration card holders will now also receive monetary assistance from the central government.
However, it is important to note that only a select number of ration card holders will be eligible for this benefit.
Previously, the Haryana government had introduced various facilities for ration card holders, including the distribution of two liters of mustard oil free of cost to BPL card holders and Antyodaya card holders.
Initially, the government had provided a monthly cash transfer of Rs 250 to compensate for the increase in oil prices in June 2021. However, the state government is currently considering an increase in this amount.
The Haryana government is contemplating raising the monthly cash transfer from Rs 250 to Rs 300, benefitting approximately 32 lakh BPL and AAY ration card holder families.
Furthermore, under the free ration scheme introduced by the central government, ration card holders are entitled to free wheat and rice.
This provision will continue in 2023, ensuring that individuals do not have to bear any expenses for ration throughout the year.
The government’s initiative to provide monetary assistance alongside free ration will undoubtedly provide much-needed support to eligible ration card holders, offering relief during these challenging times.
