Microsoft has introduced Phone Link functionality for iOS devices to all Windows 11 users.
This feature, available in 39 languages and across 85 markets worldwide, supports iMessage and allows users to connect their Windows 11 PC with their iOS mobile device, making it easy to stay in touch with their contacts.
However, Microsoft has noted that the messaging feature will be session-based and limited, and will only be available when the phone is connected to the PC.
Microsoft has commenced a phased launch of the Phone Link feature for its Windows 11 users, with all users expected to have access to the feature by mid-May.
Microsoft has stated that Phone Link for iOS, upon activation by Windows 11 users, will offer fundamental iOS support, including access to calls, messages, and contacts.
In a blog post, Microsoft has explained that after activation by a Windows 11 user, Phone Link for iOS will provide fundamental iOS support for calls, messages, and contact access.
The company has further stated that when the user’s phone is not readily accessible, such as during a presentation or a period of focused work, notifications will be delivered to their Windows PC, allowing them to select the appropriate course of action – all from their Windows 11 PC.
To begin utilizing the new feature or to verify if it has been enabled, users can initiate their search by accessing the “Phone Link” option using the search box located on the Windows taskbar.
As per Microsoft’s statement, to utilize Phone Link for iOS, users will require an iPhone with iOS 14 or a later version, a Windows 11 device, a Bluetooth connection, and the latest edition of the Phone Link application.
Phone Link has been accessible to Android users for a considerable period.
