As SUVs continue to dominate sales, the adventure touring motorcycle market is also gaining traction.
With adventure bikes now available across various price ranges, the KTM Adventure 390 remains the most popular model despite criticism of its relatively high price point.
In response to this concern, KTM has launched the more affordable Adventure 390 X in India, with an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.80 lakh.
However, the lower price point does come with a shorter list of features.
While the KTM 390 Adventure X is more affordable, it lacks certain features such as traction control system, cornering ABS, and quickshifter.
However, the bike still comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS system that can be turned off for improved off-road handling.
KTM has not yet confirmed whether the 390 Adventure X will come equipped with the colored TFT display and Bluetooth connectivity or the simpler unit found on the 250 model.
Apart from the electronics, the mechanical aspects of the KTM 390 Adventure X remain unchanged.
It is powered by a single-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power output of 43.5 Hp and a peak torque of 37 Nm.
The suspension, gearbox, and tyres are also identical to the standard 390 Adventure model.
The bike’s design remains the same, and it is available in two color options – Orange and Dark Galvano.
In terms of competitors, the KTM 390 Adventure X goes up against the BMW G 310 GS, which is more expensive by Rs 40,000.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is only Rs 65,000 less expensive than the new X variant, while the smaller Adventure 250 is Rs 36,000 less expensive.
Presently, KTM sells a range of motorcycles in the Indian market that includes Duke 125, Duke 200, Duke 250, Duke 390, RC 125, RC 200, RC250, RC390, Adventure 250, and Adventure 390.
The newly launched Adventure 390 X becomes the 11th model in the line-up.
